Frequently Asked Questions
What are your prices & what's included?
What if it rains?
A key question asked by so many couples getting married today and every day. Here at Overgrown Acres we have upgraded our tipis and purchased three giant tipis, made in Britain from The Tipi Company in Bolton. They use the very best engineered materials including their waterproofing and testing. Their design keeps them cool in the summer months and completely dry if it rains. We have included a full panoramic window across the front of the two tipis, ensuring the views are retained; the window can be quickly raised or dropped in case of an unexpected downpour. They are regarded as the ‘Strongest Tipis In Britain’.
Can I wear my Jimmy Choos?
Yes, from the car park to the tipis we have our red or hessian carpet-your choice. The tipis have a solid wooden floor throughout, providing a stable and firm flooring, with an added dance floor to dance the night away.
If you want to chill on our outdoor seating in the evening, around the fire-pits and watch the stars, why not include a pair of pumps/flip flops for later….
Are the Tipis heated?
Yes we provide a heater for the tipis and also a standby generator too, in case the local electricity network decides on a power cut!
Are fireworks permitted?
Within our beautiful countryside location and the animals on site, fireworks are NOT permitted to ensure local livestock and pets are not distressed nor fires started on our neighbouring fields. Only battery operated candles are permitted.
Can I bring in my own caterers?
Yes you can, providing they are registered with their Local Authority and can demonstrate their EHO 5star rating plus Public Liability Insurance. We provide cold water and electricity to the Catering Marquee.
What bars & drinks services do you offer?
Our bars are provided though our own in house team JMW Events; they provide a beautiful internal bar and a rustic outdoor bar. Both bars are fully stocked with beers/lagers, wines, spirits and soft drinks. Favourite tipples and a special draught beer can be brought in on your request.
Can I get married here?
Yes, we are a licensed wedding venue (Nottinghamshire County Council). We also have wedding ceremonies with a certified celebrant who will meet with you, design and perform your individual ceremony within our venue; tipis, meadows, woods. If you choose this type of ceremony you are still required to attend a registry office to sign the licence before your wedding ceremony. Attending the registry office can be done anytime up to 365 days before you celebrate here.
Do I need a wedding planner or coordinator on the day?
Weddings are beautiful to plan but can also be timely and stressful, we can recommend a favourite planner to help you or choose your own as you wish. Our in-house event team will guide and help you to plan the perfect day. We work with many suppliers and are happy to assist as you introduce new suppliers for your individual venue set up. As part of our service, we include on the day coordination to look after you and your guests, just ask any of our team, they will all be in branded uniform.
Are you affiliated with any Wedding industry organisations?
Are guests' cars safe if they take a taxi/mini bus home?
We have suitable car parking for 50 cars, with a parking/gate attendant present during your wedding. Taxis are requested prior to midnight, we have a pick up/drop off zone within our venue, please do not disembark on the road outside. Our security gates are locked at 00.30am, CCTV provides security and access is permitted on request from 8am the day after to collect cars.
Can I have a live band?
We have our favourite bands, but please share yours with us on your special day. A band, solo, DJ, or any combinations are welcome. Only electronic equipment maybe used and we can offer an electric drum kit for your band to use. Your entertainers must use our own sound system, which includes a music limiter and speakers, so often a planning requirement. Planning restricts music to 85dBa before 23.00 and 80dBa until midnight. Live bands must also finish at 23.00 with taped music (DJ) until midnight.
